We are seeking a Network Engineer on contract basis, however there is potential to transition into a permanent role.


Job Summary


As a member of the Infrastructure Services team, the Network Engineer assists in analyzing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and enhancing large complex systems or networks consisting of a combination that may include servers, computers, LANs, WANs, and the physical and logical components that integrate these systems together as an enterprise network and computing backbone. The person in this position will apply proven communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to help identify, communicate, and resolve issues in order to maximize the benefit of computer systems investments. They will need to Interact with Desktop Support, software systems engineering, and/or applications development to identify and correct core problems. This individual will also provide an escalation path for other IT staff troubleshooting network related issues.

Essential Functions

  • Maintain and run the network environment by installing, configuring, testing, and documenting the equipment/network systems according to the design and specifications.
  • Monitors the performance of day-to-day networking tasks to ensure network reliability, availability and serviceability with minimal interruption.
  • Provides technical support, responds to work orders and tickets. Analyzes and solves reported network problems.
  • Implements the configuration of firewall security settings to access permissions groups for individuals and sets up provisions for incoming data.
  • Participates in network technology update or expansion projects, including installation of hardware, software and integration testing, as well as coordinating these activities without disturbing the function of other systems.
  • Maintains and produces documentation of network topology.
  • Maintains and implements network standards and guidelines.
  • Manage and monitor all installed systems and infrastructure.
  • Maintain security, backup and redundancy strategies.
  • Create tickets and document all activities in the ticketing system.
  • Liaise with vendors and other IT personnel.
  • Stay current with information technology systems and industry trends
  • Provide evening and weekend support (off-hours support), as assigned.


Required/Preferred Education and Experience

  • 3-5 years prior industry experience. required


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Experience with L2/L3 network and security design to adhere to good security practices employing all protocols.
  • Experience working with IPSEC, VPN, and SSL.
  • Expert knowledge of network protocols to include security policy setup.
  • Desired certifications or equivalent in one of these disciplines: CCNA, CCNP, CCDP, CCIE, CISSP, and other security certifications.
  • PaloAlto Networks firewall configuration and monitoring desired.
  • Cloud experience with AWS and Azure desired.
  • Experience with monitoring systems desired.


Travel Requirements

  • Some domestic and international travel may be required
