Job Summary:
Albers Aerospace is seeking an avionics technician (contingent upon award) to support MQ-9 deployed operations. Under limited supervision, this position is responsible for fabricating, modifying, installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining ground, airborne, and electronic equipment such as unmanned aerial vehicles, ground control stations, and ground support equipment in accordance with established technical specifications, engineering instructions, and technical orders and procedures. Performs work involved in routine disassembly, repair, assembly, testing, and maintenance of electrical systems, equipment, and accessories.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Operates UAV, ground control stations and ground support equipment at assigned location.
- Constructs individual components of electronic equipment following schematics, layout diagrams, and work instructions.
- Corrects discrepancies by removal, repair, or replacement of defective or deleted parts of aircraft electrical systems.
- Performs functional checks on existing and newly installed aircraft electrical systems and equipment.
- Operates automatic test equipment to locate, diagnose, and repair defective parts.
- Performs routine inspections on systems and equipment.
- Troubleshoots, tests, and documents findings. Repairs or replaces components based on test results by following blueprints, schematics, handbooks, and other technical documents.
- Fabricates, upgrades, routes, and installs wiring harnesses.
- Disassembles, assembles, and adjusts electronic equipment.
- Represents group with team leaders, supply personnel, A&P mechanics, pilots and internal and external customers.
- May provide guidance or training to less experienced staff.
- Responsible for observing all laws, regulations and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company.
- Expected to work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.
- Provide technical support to electronic/structural/mechanical project UAS engineers and customers, shall utilize excellent organizational skills in prioritizing workload to meet Daily Flight Schedule.
- Annotate entries in aircraft logs and records, attend shift change maintenance meetings.
- Additional duties as assigned or required.
Minimum Requirements:
- Manual lifting of weights greater than 50lbs is required on a frequent basis to accomplish requirements as published on the daily flight schedule.
- Be able to apply advanced technical knowledge to solve complex problems that typically cannot be solved solely by referencing manufacturers’ manuals or similar documents. Examples of such problems include determining the location and density of circuitry, evaluating electromagnetic radiation, isolating malfunctions, and incorporating engineering changes.
- Familiarity with UAS aircraft electrical generators, load banks, starters, relays, batteries, actuators, circuit breakers, switches and aircraft instruments.
- Work typically requires an understanding of the interrelationships of circuits, exercising independent judgment in performing such tasks as making circuit analyses, calculating wave forms, and tracing relationships in signal flow, using complex test instruments such as high frequency pulse generators, frequency synthesizers, distortion analyzers, and complex computer control equipment.
- Shall have minimum 10 years USN/USMC/USCG O-Level CNAFINST 4790.2 (series) aircraft maintenance support experience.
- Shall have minimum five years T/M/S aircraft maintenance experience for the T/M/S aircraft hired to maintain.
- Shall have T/M/S aircraft maintenance experience for the T/M/S aircraft hired to maintain, with the last two years.
- Experience handling HAZMAT, AES, IATA, and COMSEC material is desirable.
- Ability to pass a Deployment Medical Examination.
- The ability to troubleshoot at the component level and considerable knowledge and use of electronic test equipment, hand and soldering tools, voltage or amperage measuring and recording devices.
- The ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, schematics and technical orders.
- Strong analytical, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills to accurately document, report and assess situations and make judgments.
- The ability to work both independently and in a team environment is essential as is the ability to work extended hours and travel as required.
- Employee must meet all OCONUS deployment criteria, to include pre-deployment medical screening, as a condition of employment.
- Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand English.
- Must have a current/active Driver’s License.
- Must have a valid US Passport.
- Must be fully vaccinated per CDC guidelines and OCONUS policies.
- Must be willing to permanently relocate and deploy.
Security Clearance Requirements: Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance at the Top Secret level. Secret may apply in some positions. US Citizenship is a requirement for this contract.
