The reporting location for this position is 4940 Lang Avenue at McClellan Park, CA. This position will work under the direction of CEA, District Facilities Management.
The Mechanical Engineer is assigned to the Mobile Equipment Program. Primary responsibilities include assisting with the engineering analysis, procurement, inspections, and tracking and distribution of the Department’s Mobile Equipment. Responsibilities also include providing engineering support, such as failure analysis, design verification, preparation of design and contract drawings, emission upgrades/retrofits, preparation of cost estimates, checking of drawings and construction submissions, field inspections and other related work. The incumbent will process invoices and purchase documents through the FI$CAL database; add equipment into State Parks Asset Management Database (Maximo) and update the Schedule 9 purchasing web enabled database. Responsibilities also include providing analytical support, such as preparation of vehicle usage reports, and equipment allocations.
Training and Development Assignments may be considered.
This position requires a valid Class C driver’s license. Class A driver’s license is preferred. You must answer the questions addressing your driver’s license on your application. For the Class A driver’s license, this position will be subject to the Federal Drug and Alcohol Testing Program.
Occasional travel may be required. Possession of a valid driver’s license is required when operating a state owned or leased vehicle.

Working Conditions
Work environment may have moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, elevations, dirt, dust, fumes, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises. Overnight travel up to four weeks per year with walking on uneven surfaces, rocky or mountainous terrain and in various weather conditions. May be exposed to extreme weather and traffic conditions.
