Job description

Mechanical Engineer with technical, manufacturing (converting) knowledge and experience in managing multiple projects and support and improve current manufacturing operations .

Additional duties are to integrate new products into the existing structure or adapt existing operations to support new business opportunities.

Design, supervise building and testing various machinery. The Plant Engineer will be involved in multiple projects simultaneously, with projects at different stages, at any given time. The Candidate is expected to handle most job functions with little technical assistance and is expected to work under the general supervision of the Director of Operations.

Their main duties include troubleshooting various machinery, conducting experiments to improve different product designs, and using CAD technology to build machines and mechanical components designs. In addition, the Plant Engineer should be able to provide supervision of other mechanics and maintenance team.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of design, development and maintenance of our many unique manufacturing processes.
  • Provide support for installation and start-up of new processes and equipment
  • Oversee the cost effective, safe, and timely completion of projects meeting expectations.
  • Evaluate equipment and process capabilities and make recommendations on equipment design and selection of materials.
  • Responsible for analyzing the effectiveness of manufacturing and packaging output and recommending, implementing, and measuring improvements.
  • Provide technical support on any production/product/quality issues as required.
  • Conducting thermal testing experiments and evaluations to improve and innovate machine and product designs. · Creating plans and designs using CAD technology.
  • Estimating budgets and time scopes for each project.
  • Works with the Purchasing group to solicit quotations for all components from potential suppliers.
  • Provides technical support and troubleshooting of ongoing manufacturing process, as required.
  • Participates and provides feedback in R&D meetings.

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required for success in this position

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Engineering
  • 5 years’ previous experience as a plant/manufacturing engineer or related position
  • Demonstrable ability to lead and manage staff
  • Schedule flexibility with willingness to work extra hours as needed to meet customer demands

Language Skills Needed

Bilingual English Spanish Preferred

Mathematical Skills Needed

Above average knowledge of mathematics required. Ability to apply mathematical concepts of probability and statistical inference, algebra and geometry to practical situations. Ability to calculate interest, discounts, fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions. Ability to work with measurements and measurement-based calculations.

Reasoning Ability Needed

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
