Landscape Architect (Entry-level)

The Low Impact Development Center (LID Center) of Beltsville, MD is seeking a full-time, entry-level Landscape Designer to work on projects involving stormwater management, water quality, urban forests, and other low-impact development and green infrastructure activities. The candidate will assist LID Center staff with ongoing efforts to plan, develop, and promote low-impact development and green infrastructure; identify, design, and manage green infrastructure projects; and research and implement innovative green stormwater management techniques. The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in Landscape Architecture or a similar field, have a solid understanding of GIS, and 1-2 years of experience.

Job Responsibilities:

· Prepare site analyses, concept designs, and design development

· Develop and draft landscape plans

· Oversee landscape installation and conduct field inspections

· Collect and analyze field data

· Research low-impact development/green infrastructure landscape and design

· Prepare interpretive, educational, identification, and wayfinding signage

· Develop and implement outreach and involvement initiatives across diverse community and neighborhood settings

· Generate mapping products, graphic images, and data visualization to effectively communicate with a variety of audiences

· Record and maintain accurate documentation of meetings and events

· Stay knowledgeable in current trends, practices, technology, and information affecting the design profession

· Produce training materials, print and online publications, and presentations using Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, PowerPoint, and StoryMaps

Applicants must have experience in Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch Up, and Microsoft Office and be proficient in the use of Geospatial Information Systems (GIS) and ESRI software. Proofreading and writing skills are required. This position will require some travel and fieldwork, primarily within the Washington D.C. metropolitan area and regionally. Special consideration is given to applicants with Prince George’s County residency. The position is an entry-level position for 40 hours a week based in Beltsville, MD. Partial work from home is an option. Salary range is $52,000 to $58,000 and is commensurate with experience.
