General Summary of Position
The Integrations Lead will drive execution across the Digital Transformation roadmap. The Integrations Lead will report to the AVP of Data & Integrations and will serve as the technical expert for various administrative, digital, or clinical applications related to Digital Transformation. This role will direct the design, implementation, and maintenance of these applications, including but not limited to requirements definition, process and use documentation, product testing, product troubleshooting, product upgrades, and report development. The Integrations Lead will partner closely with the internal and external stakeholders to define the integration and maintenance approach required to support various high value use cases.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- As appropriate, performs duties required to back up and/or monitor application assets to ensure continuity in service for key digital solutions. Responsible for ongoing improvement/enhancement of application asset monitoring.
- As appropriate, monitors and tests the ongoing production performance for various middleware and digital solutions to assure appropriate operations in terms of response time and storage capacity. Monitors new release features and their relevance to MedStar and determines if or when to upgrade. Makes recommendations to clients for operational improvements. Proactively identifies the need to upgrade the supporting infrastructure.
- Coordinates and manages vendor resources in the implementation of new software, and/or application upgrades and enhancements for Digital Transformation. Ensures contracts are administered according to expectations.
- Coordinates and mentors internal and external associates in the design and development of user and application support documentation to facilitate optimal use of applications. Ensures that appropriate updates to support documentation are in designated documentation repositories. Coaches/mentors internal and external associates in documentation standards and guidelines.
- Designs, coordinates and conducts the testing of software updates/fixes and routine maintenance for Digital Transformation platform and middleware technology. Validates that systems operate and perform properly through the implementation of controlled unit, system, integration, and volume testing. Recommends alignment of resources and plans to meet application/user needs.
- Designs, manages, and/or leads the implementation of improvements, enhancements, and updates to Digital Transformation applications and services. Responsible for executing project tasks including development of project work plans, resource plans, schedules, costs, administrative reports, and acceptance criteria. Manages/leads the requirements analysis, functional specification definition and design processes, and implementation and testing of enhancements. Evaluates and provides technical direction to Information Systems associates and user departments.
- Develops reports and mentors/ leads internal and external associates in the development of ad hoc and standard reports using system report writer or other tools to meet customer needs. Assists and guides users in developing ad hoc reports. Evaluate report requests against reporting definitions.
- Documents current business processes to aid in the process redesign across various Digital Transformation use cases. Revises or develops new business processes which utilize the capabilities provided by new information technology and provide optimal benefit to the organization in terms of increased efficiency, accuracy, and effectiveness of the process. Designs and modifies department policies and procedures required to implement re-engineered business processes.
- Plans, develops, and executes educator/trainer courses of core system/application functionality to ensure associate/customer needs are met to support adoption of various Digital Transformation solutions. Evaluate and provide direction to associates. Aligns training resources and plans to meet application/user needs.
- Provides expert support to Digital Transformation and other key stakeholders in the implementation and operational use of software applications. Actively coordinates/facilitates successful resolution to user issues, problems and requests. Serves as liaison between application and technical IS groups, Digital Transformation, and the user community, and keeps abreast of healthcare trends, issues, and initiatives in order to provide comprehensive and quality solutions to the user community.
- Provides management and leadership oversight to special projects within the Digital Transformation roadmap. Completes and/or manages special projects. Mentors and/or leads associates in the mastery of skills for management of application tasks and/or projects using advanced project management principles and tools. Responsible for developing and maintaining project documentation according to PMO standards.
- Responsible for the integration of applications within and beyond the corporate computing environment. Mentors associates in support processes.
- Responsible for the management of database(s) and applications related to Digital Transformation. Evaluates database design and development, and software maintenance activities and implement recommendations for performance improvements. Responsible for the periodic review of software with customers and vendors to evaluate software utilization and effectiveness.
- Serves as a subject matter expert in current technology, trends, and developments in the healthcare industry. Serves as a resource and mentor for the Digital Transformation department and customers. Serves as an expert in problem analysis in support of decisions and planning within the enterprise application service area. Analyzes the impact of application modules on departments. Develops solutions to meet project objectives. Coordinates vendors, Information Services associates, and users in troubleshooting problems and resolving software or procedural issues. Expert and mentor in problem analysis.
- Trains, orients, and assigns department staff. Evaluates performance and conducts performance management planning. Makes recommendations for personnel actions. Maintains ongoing communication with staff to review programs, provide feedback, discuss new developments, and exchange information. Coaches, guides and mentors' application support staff members. Provides leadership by example.
Minimum Qualifications
Education
- Master's degree in Computer Science or related field required
Experience
- 5-7 years technical experience preferably in a healthcare or business environment. required
- 5-7 years experience in application integrations, API's, and software development required
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Experience designing, developing, implementing, and supporting application integrations in a healthcare setting
- Experience configuring and supporting application software and related systems in a healthcare setting.
- Experience designing, developing, implementing, and supporting application integrations across clinical and business processes
- Experience leading projects with moderate to high complexity
- Proficient in HL7/FHIR and related concepts (i.e. APIs, REST, SOAP, Web Services, etc.).
- Strong analytical ability to solve complex technical problems. Familiarity with Agile methods.
- Extensive knowledge and working experience with C# and/or Java
- Experience with POSTMAN or similar API building platform
- Expertise with GitHub, Azure DevOps, or other source control products
- Experience with developing in a cloud service architecture.
- Experience with Cerner Millennium applications and technical integration within Cerner Millennium, athenaIDX and it's Developer Resources, and Health Information Exchanges (HIEs) preferred.
- Strong oral and written communication skills, including presentation skills required. Experience with interface engines (ie, Cloverleaf, Open Engine, Open Link, MirthConnect)
