JOB FUNCTION: Install, maintain, test, startup, and adjust a wide variety of electrical, electronic, electro-pneumatic, and electro-mechanical instrumentation and control systems/equipment. specific electrical and controls (E&C) systems include, but are not limited to, those associated with the electrical distribution system, turbine generators, chillers, boilers,incinerators, and HVAC equipment.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Read, interpret, and troubleshoot site E&C system deficiencies using electrical schematics, loop diagrams, control logics, mechanical drawings, and piping & instrumentdiagrams (P&IDs). Troubleshoot indiscriminately both the mechanical and electrical sides of systems. Maintain as-built logics, control loop diagrams, and documentation for all assigned systems.
- Install, program, troubleshoot, calibrate, tune, preventive and predictive maintenance (condition monitoring), replace and repair all assigned E&C systems and all associatedelectrical, electronic, electro-pneumatic, and electro-mechanical components, includinginstrumentation and end-elements.
- Troubleshoot hardware and software problems; perform simple programming, data basechanges, and alarm log reviews; perform and maintain system back-ups and history database files; develop and install graphics to enhance operation and maintenance; andperform miscellaneous administrative functions as directed by E&C Engineer on site’s microprocessor-based central control systems.
- Program and troubleshoot ladder logic, both in hard-wired relays and PLC, for controlsystems.
- Adjust control system parameters as required and/or directed by E&C Engineer.
- Perform startup and checkout of newly installed E&C systems prior to operationsturnover.
- Complete ADC’s as required.
- Direct repair personnel as assigned.
- Provide technical support as required to the E&C Engineer in the performance of his/herduties.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Journeyman Electrical License.
- Working experience in electrical, industrial electronics, and electro-pneumatics.
- Ability to read, interpret, and troubleshoot using electrical schematics, loop diagrams,control logics, mechanical drawings, and piping & instrument diagrams (P&ID’s).
- Five years working experience with 120VAC.
- Working knowledge of PLC programming. Must be able to read, interpret, andtroubleshoot ladder logic from computer terminal.
- Knowledgeable in direct digital control (DDC) and other forms of electronic controls.
- Hands-on experience in calibration and maintenance of electronic and / or electro-pneumatic control system equipment.
- Hands-on experience in repair and troubleshooting of motor control centers and variable frequency drives (VFD’s).
- Ability to quickly learn operating and control systems for principal site-specific systems including, but not limited to, the electrical distribution system, turbine generators, chillers, boilers, incinerators, and HVAC equipment.
- Ability to comprehend written and oral instructions.
- A willingness to work rotational shift if necessary, including days, evenings, and nights, as well as, overtime, on-call, call-ins, weekends, and holidays.
EXPERIENCE:
- Two years’ experience in maintenance and repair on commercial/industrial/residential building equipment to include, but not limited to: cooling towers, pumps, heat exchangers.
- Two years working experience with high voltage up to 15,000VAC, preferred.
EDUCATION:
- High school, technical school, apprenticeship, trade school graduate or equivalent required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
- Understanding of Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and SCADA, preferred. • Understanding of HVAC building management systems (BMS), preferred.
- NFPA-70E Training. •
- OSHA 10 Training
- CPR Training
- Certified and proficient in Foxboro computer systems to include hands-on and / or classroom experience, preferred.
SECURITY: Must be a U.S. Citizen, able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret Security Clearance.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Incumbents may work in conditions that require operating industrial machinery/power tools and motor vehicles. Additionally, incumbents may participate in work that requires walking, bending, squatting, and carrying materials throughout the facility. Workplace conditions necessitate following strict safety guidelines and the use of Personal Protective Equipment. Work tasks requiring the incumbent to lift weight more than 50 pounds requires two or more persons.
