Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

Diagnoses and repairs avionics components, instruments, circuit boards and support equipment. Potential to support both electrical and mechanical aircraft components not limited to: testing, cleaning, troubleshooting, disassembly, re-assembly, and inspection. Application of knowledge and instruction from Component Maintenance Manuals (CMMs) to evaluate and repair aircraft electronic components. Requires the expertise and usage of diagnostic tools, various meters, and common hand tools. Must have electrical theory and trouble shooting skills. This position reports to the Shop Manager.

REQUIREMENTS/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Avionics Technician must possess skills such as performing repairs, testing, and checks on electrical systems and components.
  • Must be able to perform electrical continuity checks and have basic PC skills.
  • Must also be able to follow tests per engineering instructions and check operational tests according to manufacturers instructions.
  • Must be able to diagnose and repair problems with existing equipment, implement alterations and modifications, and perform maintenance on aircraft avionics components.
  • This position is responsible for running electronics systems tests, computer circuit cards, miniature repair of electronics components and bringing existing equipment into compliance with specifications.
  • Must have the knowledge to test equipment such as optics electrical power distribution systems, pressure indication systems, transformers and distribution electrical transformers.
  • Must demonstrate working knowledge of other aircraft systems and qualifications to meet standard aviation safety practices. Must possess the knowledge to apply troubleshooting methods to resolve technical problems.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must be able to read, write, fluently speak and understand the English language.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Experience with maintenance manuals.
  • Electrical component or Avionics specific training.

Physical/Work Environment:

While performing duties of job, employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls: reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. Employee must occasionally lift and/or move.

  • Electrical component repair: 1 year (Required)
